What animal does your too-hard basket most remind you of?

Is it a lazy sloth, with extremely slow and sluggish movement?
Or is it more like a meerkat of procrastination – constantly on alert and looking for another distraction?


Whatever the animal, the Too Hard Basket is called that for a reason. I’m going to help you unpack that basket, right here, right now. Speed up that sloth and get that meerkat to work using these simple tips.


Firstly, grab a pen and paper and write down the top 3 to 5 things that have been sitting at the bottom of your business Too Hard Basket for a while.

You know the ones I’m talking about – the ones that you either don’t have the time, money, patience, brain-space or skills to do.

Here are mine:

  • Apply for a trademark
  • Document my current business processes
  • Tidy up my filing structure and transfer files from Dropbox to Google Drive
  • Source personalised logo stickers for snail mail

Ok, now that you have your list of dreaded tasks, I want you to work out an action plan to tackle them. Right. Now.

Wait – I can hear your groans from here… But before you click through to another website in disgust hear me out.


Would you believe me if I told you getting these bad boys dealt with is as easy as 1 – 2 – 3?

1. Schedule it
2. Delegate it
3. Delete it


To tame your Too Hard Basket totem animal, use the power of 3. Use them in any order, just limit your actions to these three things:

Schedule It

If this is your decision, open your calendar right now, choose a day and time and get this puppy scheduled in! No ifs, no buts, don’t think about it – JUST DO IT!


Delegate It

This is my personal favourite! If you have neither the time, patience, brain-space or skills, this one is for you. I guarantee that there is someone out there who can do it quicker and easier than you can and will end up saving you money in the long run – use these people! (Did I mention that I’m a Virtual Assistant?)


Delete It

This is where you need to be clear on your priorities. Is this task really important and beneficial to your life or your business? Or is it just something that would be nice to do but really doesn’t promise any specific return on investment? If it ain’t going to deliver the goods – kill it, your time and money is better spent elsewhere.


How did I go with my list? I delegated, scheduled, delegated and deleted.
